Andaman & Nicobar Islands- Places of Interest

The Andamans, a chain of Islands in the Bay of Bengal, remained in a charmed cocoon from explorers for centuries, as the tempestuous waters and dense forest blocked all entrances. As a result, today the islands are an unspoiled treasure. In the midst of a lapis lazuli sea, 650 different tropical plants (540 indigenous to the island) grow in all their lush greenery. Where nature has not woken up to the rest of the world.

Andaman and Nicobar, is like a glittering jewel, casually scattered on the velvetty carpet, is a group of 572 Islands & islets spread over like a broken pearl chain in Bay of Bengal covering an area of 8249 sq.kms over a distance of 780 kms of ocean from North to South..

The Andamans and Nicobar Islands have brilliant tropical flora and are thickly forested with evergreen, deciduous rainforest and tropical trees with mangrove swamps at the water edge. The Sparkling clear water is excellent for snorkeling with increasing opportunity for fabulous Scuba diving for beginner and experienced people. The Islands are also a paradise for bird watchers. The Islands, although an Union Territory of India, is very close to Rangoon(Burma), Phuket(Thailand), Malaysia and Sumatra. However to reach these islands, irrespective Indians or foreigners have to undertake journey from Chennai/Calcutta/Vizag. Andaman is graded as one of the ideal destination for availing leave travel concession to cover a long distance journey.
